Prime Day 2023: Dates, Deals, and Bonuses
Amazon continues to up the ante in its biggest sale of the year. Check out the article below to find the best deals on hot products, and some hidden gems for Prime members
- Amazon Prime Day 2023 is scheduled for Tuesday, July 11 and Wednesday, July 12
- Top sales include best-selling Amazon home devices, Apple technology, beauty products, and more
- Thousands of items have been discounted and there’s still plenty of time to become a free Prime member and take advantage of these deals
Since the first Prime Day way back in 2015, Amazon has shown that it’s unwilling to let current conventions such as established holidays get in the way of sales.
Almost immediately after having solidified Amazon Prime Day as a pivotal event on the ecommerce calendar, Amazon has used this huge sale to mark down thousands of items across their site and at the same time, place itself squarely in the spotlight.
What does that mean for you? As buyers, it means that it’s time to pick up the electronic gadget, high-end beauty product, or sports gear you’ve had on your wishlist.
If you’re an Amazon seller, it’s a little too late to do all you need to get ready for Prime Day 2023. Next time around you’ll want to focus on your inventory management, optimize all your product listings, make sure you offer competitive pricing, develop an advertising and promotion strategy, double down on your customer service efforts, and take the time to conduct a thorough post-Prime Day analysis.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2023?
Amazon Prime Day will take place from July 11 to July 12. As usual, there will be a number of interesting early access deals, but the very best deals won’t take place until July 11.
As with previous Prime Days, there will be more than a few deals that last beyond the cutoff date of July 12.
What is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime Day is a global shopping event that began in 2015 to celebrate Amazon’s 20th anniversary. Initially, the event was a one-day affair but it has since expanded over the years. The 48-hour sale offers deals exclusively available to Prime members. Shoppers can find discounts on technology, home and kitchen, pet supplies, travel accessories, beauty and skincare, home basics and more.
Here’s a brief timeline of Amazon Prime Day:
2015
Prime Day was first launched on July 15, 2015. It was touted as a “global shopping event” with more deals than Black Friday, but exclusive to Amazon Prime members. Despite some criticisms regarding the quality and quantity of deals, Amazon declared the event a success, with sales surpassing the previous Black Friday.
2016
Amazon held its second Prime Day on July 12, 2016. They addressed criticisms from the previous year by increasing the number of deals and ensuring the deals lasted longer.
2017
Amazon extended the duration of Prime Day to 30 hours starting from July 10, 2017. This year, the event expanded to more countries and introduced new features like “Voice Shopping,” which gave discounts to users who ordered through Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant.
2018
Amazon once again extended Prime Day, making it a 36-hour event starting from July 16, 2018. This was another successful year for Amazon, with more than 100 million products sold.
2019
Prime Day was further extended to a full 48-hour event on July 15 and 16, 2019. The event was bigger than ever, with sales surpassing the previous Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined.
2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Day was postponed to October 13-14, marking the first time the event was not held in July. Nevertheless, the event was again a success, with small and medium-sized businesses selling over $3.5 billion worth of products, a nearly 60% increase from 2019.
2021
In 2021, Prime Day reached $11.19 billion in global sales. That’s up 7.6% from $10.39 billion from Prime Day 2020.
2022
In 2022, Prime Day sales reached an estimated 12 billion U.S. dollars worldwide, making it the most successful shopping occasion in Amazon’s history.
